Free game assets

Here’s a collection of free/libre game assets I recommend!

I’ve included a ⭐ star next to sites I’ve personally used assets from, as of writing (to the best of my recollection). This doesn’t necessarily mean they’re better or worse than others.

Also worth noting: most of the original assets I make for my games are freely licensed too! Check out each game’s page to see what license its assets are available under. I’m no artist, but I think even programmer art and music deserve to be set free. :)

Disclaimer: For many of these assets, I’ve listed the license they’re offered under for quick reference. Nothing on my website is legal advice, and I can’t guarantee these are accurate and kept up to date. Always double check an asset’s license before you use it!

Multiple Asset Types

These sites have many types of assets; I’ve listed them here so I don’t have to duplicate them in several other sections below. These are some of the best places to look first.

2D Assets

Icons

Tilesets

Many other sites with 2D assets include tilesets; these are only tilesets specifically.

Character Portraits

3D Models and Textures

I haven’t really done 3D game development before so I can’t personally vouch for any of these.

Godot VFX/Shaders

Audio

Music

Instruments and Samples

Dungeon Synth
